Meet The Amazing ‘Broken Guitar’ Player – Tom Ward

Tom Ward is one of the most sophisticated street musicians you will ever find, his parents are originally from Britain, they moved to Australia & settled in Tasmania where he was born in 1983. From an early age the Tom loved music, and had the support of his parents to learn & get better. In 1997 he began his classical music studies at the St. Cecilia School of Music, with violinist & guitar teacher Matthews Tyson. There he received two music Diplomas & by 2001 Tom had received first place in numerous music competitions and released his first CD ‘Tasmanian Sunrise’.

Besides his interesting guitar which looks extremely worn and broken, the attention and fame Tom enjoys comes from his awesome guitar skills. His broken guitar with holes was built by his father before it was smashed on a flight to the US 7 years ago.

Tom’s awesome guitar skills have earned him attention among street crowds in Australia and on social media. Tom is quite successful as a musician having performed internationally in Japan, Thailand, Italy, the U.K., Germany, France, Australia and in China for Expo Shanghai. Tom ward has also been featured in the 2011 edition of Australia’s Got Talent & has shared the stage with great artists like Tommy Emmanuel, the Buena Vista Social Club and Jason Mraz.

Tom’s music has the ability to uplift & transform a very bad day to a good one. His commitment to the guitar is on a whole new level, often combining different types of Music, making it feel like he’s playing a Spanish acoustic, a double bass and a harp all at the same time!

If you ever have the opportunity to see Tom Ward perform live take it! Or  you can have a feel of his finger magic by checking out his Guitar Recitals album on his website.
